First rainwater gin produced worldwide

First rainwater jenever produced worldwide

At the end of October, the first jenever was made from rainwater at Hooghoudt Distillery in Groningen. That was the fine result of eight months of preparation in the context of the VIDA project (www.vidaproject.eu). The production of jenever with rainwater is very special, because until now this has only been carried out with drinking water. However, with the use of the Drop2Drink unit, D2D Water Solutions shows that rainwater can also be an excellent source for beverage production.

The value for the food chain is substantial, because it can lead to a 50% reduction in precious drinking water. The need to save drinking water is enormous, because more than 25% of mankind worldwide already suffers from a shortage of clean drinking water.
